Concrete and Film, is a multi-media project centred around my old estate, Through this landscape, class experience and the social lifecycle of post-war housing, estates are explored. The work draws on personal anecdotes, psycho-geographical wandering and material-led practice revealing the lived reality of estates - from their hopeful modernist beginnings, through decades of neglect, to demolition and privatisation. While rooted in a specific place, Concrete & film is a memorial to council estates every where.
